Our team

Our Board is deliberately diverse, with two independent directors and five other positions, bringing a mix of individual Club Board representatives and Club CEOs. This Board structure will allow us to capture a diversity of views, expertise, experience and contacts which will help us drive innovation and fresh thinking in our leadership.

Athol Chalmers

Athol Chalmers
Chair

Athol’s professional career has been in policy development, government relations and advocacy and stakeholder management at the Federal political level. Athol has been on the Board of the Canberra Burns Club for 5 years, the last 2 years as President. Athol is active as a leader in a number of community groups related to the promotion of Scottish culture. He was awarded a Centenary of Federation medal for his contributions. Athol has a Bachelor of Applied Economics from the University of New England.

Andy Gregory

Andy Gregory
Deputy Chair

Andy is the Founding Director of Yellow Edge Pty Ltd. He has extensive public sector experience at all levels of Government, having worked at the Senior Executive Service level in both Australian Public Service agencies and the ACT Public Service. He also has senior private sector experience as Managing Director of Spherion’s (a $6 billion US multinational) national outsourcing business and as Chief Executive of Yellow Edge for over ten years.

Andy’s expertise covers large scale change management in both the public and private sectors, strategic business leadership, program and project management, governance and business process design. He has an extensive track record of consulting at the highest levels. Andy holds a Bachelor of Economics from the ANU and is a Chevening Scholar. Having lived his entire life in Canberra he is committed to ensuring the Clubs industry continues to make a vital contribution to Canberra in the future.

Geoff Long

Geoff has been in the Hospitality Industry since 1984 and in 2006 coming from General Manager of The Galston Club in Sydney commenced as the CEO of Belconnen Soccer Clubs at Hawker and McKellar. Geoff held leadership positions in the Galston community having served for a number of years as the Vice President of the Galston Chamber of Commerce and for 3 years as an inaugural Board Member and the Company Secretary of Galston Financial Services a Bendigo Bank Franchise. Since his arrival to Canberra in 2006 he has held the position of ACT Zone President of the Club Managers Association of Australia. Geoff holds an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality (Club Management), Diploma in Business and is a Justice of the Peace.

Ian Cameron

Ian Cameron
Director

Ian is the CEO of the Hellenic Club of Canberra. He started his career in the ACT Club industry in 1992 and has worked at the Hellenic Club in a variety of positions since 1994. He has been the CEO since 2005. Ian studied at the Australian National University, obtaining a Bachelor of Economics in 1995 and a Master of Management on 2006. Ian is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Alison Percival

Alison is the Chief Operating Officer of The Tradies Group which operates a Community Club with 30,000+ members, a 4 Star Hotel, Fitness Centre and Garden Nursery.

Alison joined The Tradies in 2008 and has played a key role in the transformation of the organisation which has seen it grow to become one of the most successful Community Club Groups in the ACT.

She has responsibility for the business and operational outcomes of the Tradies Group. This includes leading a workforce of over 150 people working across varied business areas.

As the Chief Operating Officer, Alison has ultimate accountability for ensuring the work force delivers business results consistent with organisational strategic objectives and corporate governance framework.

Alison is passionate about leading a culture at The Tradies that is built around diversity, inclusion and belonging.
Central to her own leadership journey is her curious nature to explore, implement and amplify leadership.

Alison Brook

Alison Brook
Director

Alison Brook is the CEO of Relationships Australia Canberra and Region, a not-for-profit organisation established to assist people with their relationships of any kind, and across the lifespan. Relationships Australia’s supports include a gambling help service in the ACT, as well as annual public campaigns to reduce loneliness, keep people socially connected through their local neighbourhoods, among other things that are congruent with the aims of community clubs in the ACT. Prior to taking the role as CEO in early 2019, Alison was the National Executive Officer for the Relationships Australia federation for ten years. Alison also has extensive experience in the area of law enforcement in NSW. She has postgraduate qualifications in management. Alison lives in Canberra with her family.
